UPLB grads top civil and chemical eng’g exams

LOS BANOS, Laguna, July 13 (PIA) -- Two University of the Philippines (UP) Los Banos graduates each made it to the top ten of the Civil and Chemical Engineering Licensure Examinations given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). Bryan Yulo dela Cruz, a BS Civil Engineering graduate at the College of Engineering and Agro Industrial Technology (CEAT) topped the Civil Engineering Licensure exam at 96.30 percent rating.

Marius Siegried delos Santos, a BS Chemical Engineering graduate secured the 5th place of the April 2011 Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination with a rating of 80.50 percent. All ten board examinees for the civil engineering licensure exam from UPLB passed the May 2011 exam.

No school qualified for the top performing title, because to qualify, schools should get at least 80 percent passing rate and must have 50 or more successful takers, according to the PRC.

Meanwhile, UPLB was hailed as the Top Performing School in the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination. It earned the title when 24 graduates passed the exam out of the 27 takers (88.89% passing rate). To qualify for the top performing title for chemical engineering licensure exam, the schools should get at least 80 percent passing percentage with 20 or more successful takers. (CPG/Alan C.
